Bedfordshire 1 Northamptonshire 2
Here's how I saw it
I was expecting to see 22 players of my physical fitness , I was shocked to see so many racing snakes when I arrived , I was however delighted when Gobbler showed. We had only 13 players at kick off, so after thinking that I could get away with a 45 minute cameo the full extent of the afternoon nightmare was beginning to dawn.
Here's how we lined up at kick off

Northamptonshire might like to note all county darts players. Matt Caste arrived at some point in the first half.
Beds boomed out of the blocks and created a number of chances in the opening 15 minutes. Phil , Adam and Micky all going close. We picked up two injuries in the opening 20 with Rob injuring a knee and Kevin damaging his foot, neither player returned. I played two balls down the line and realised my trainers were 50 pence shaped both balls sckewing wildly out of play. If I wasn't so quick I really would be crap. The moment of the match came on the half hour mark Gobbler slalomming around players before a horrendous dive. He really did go down in installments. Then the disaster after creating no real chances Northants take the lead a long throw, flick on and a header from point blank range. Although Wazza was in fine form he could nothing about this one. A couple of half chances followed and what seemed like a enternity of a first half ended.
Half Time : Beds 0-1 Northants
We all were eager to start the second half quickly or we wouldn't have been able to move. We changed to a back three and pushed Micky ( good player this boy ) up front. Deano somehow managed to get a blue card ( what's that all about 5 mins in the sin bin ) for a nothing challenge there was worse tackles in the warm up. Wazza continued to make some good stops and finally we took one of our chances. A through ball to Micky and he deftly chips the whale ( don't look like many chips get past him ). Beds back in it , come on. The strength on the bench finally began to take its toll as Northants constantly rotated. I was like some others running on the Gladiators travellator at this point, only the thought of a pint keeping me upright. Beds failed to clear in the box and Northants take a 2-1 lead. Deano left the game soon after and we now had two at the back ( note for all tacticians if you go two at the back make sure one can run ). After a late surge by Northants the game ends 2-1.
A decent effort from a scratch team and they just about deserved their win. Our stars were Micky , Wazza , Gobbler and Deano all putting in very good performances.
£800 raised for charity and I was very happy to be part of that , well done to all the boys who played , that's me retiring again and this time I mean it.
